ANSA is once again partnering on Election Protection (EP), a crucial nonpartisan program which helps strengthen American democracy. ANSA is proud to be an active member of the EP coalition, a partnership of over 100 civil and voting rights organizations across the country led by People for the American Way Foundation, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and other committed organizations. EP aims to safeguard voters' rights, particularly for African Americans, Latinos, and other historically disenfranchised communities. With a team of thousands of legal experts and trained volunteers, EP encourages voter participation, advises voters of their legal rights, provides volunteer poll monitors, and offers free and immediate legal assistance to voters who encounter problems registering or voting, from now through Election Day. Jackson, Chris Rock, Blair Underwood, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Vanessa Williams, and Alfre Woodard. ANSA also coordinated its artist constituency to participate in interviews and a sign on letter supporting EP. It is difficult to overstate the significance of the upcoming 2008 general elections. ANSA is working again with the EP coalition and Participant Productions to ensure that updated PSAs once again air on radio stations across the country, with an emphasis on reaching African American and Latino voters in crucial swing states where the threat of disenfranchisement is greatest.
